The Society of Friends of the Musée Mer Marine

The Society supports the work and reach of an exceptional museum, the Musée Mer Marine, which opened in Bordeaux in June 2019.

The opening of a museum is always an event; the creation of this one is exceptional:

– for its scale: more than 6,000 m² of exhibition space and an auditorium;

– for its twofold theme, which brings the world of the sea and the world of culture together;

– for the quality and originality of its collections and the personality of its founder.

Whether you are passionate about history and heritage, committed to protecting the oceans, an art lover, a model collector, or simply love travel, surfing and culture: let yourself be carried away by the poetry of the sea and join us.

The Society of Friends is a non-profit association (under the French law of 1901). Its aims are:

– to make the breadth and quality of the Musée Mer Marine’s collections, among the finest private collections in France, known to a wide audience;

– to help enrich the collections by contributing to acquisitions;

– to support the restoration of objects;

– to organise talks linked to the museum’s temporary and permanent exhibitions, as well as other cultural events.
